About

The School House Ridge North Trail is a peaceful hike through open meadows and woodlands and is part of Harpers Ferry National Historical Park.  This trail  follows the route of Union and Confederate troop movements during the 1862 Battle of Harpers Ferry.

School House Ridge North Trail – Harpers Ferry

  • Parking/Starting: You can start this trail from the School House Ridge North parking area on Bakerton Road, 874 Bakerton Road, Harpers Ferry, WV 25425 (39.3257166662, -77.7668580155). Another way is to cross Bakerton Road from the Lower Bolivar Heights parking area after walking the Lower Loop of the Bolivar Heights Trail.

  • Length: Approximately 2.5 miles
  • Highlights: Open fields, Civil War history, scenic views, and wildlife sightings
